How to write better cold email copy

I’ve written copy for 100s of different offers, 100s of different markets, and dozens of different types of services.

From long-form VSLs to tweets, I’ve seen what converts like a lemonade stand on the 4th of July…

And what burns down like a blimp getting smacked by a solar flare.

So let me tell ya…

Despite cold email copy being some of the shortest copy you can write (besides good ol’ tweets), it is one of the hardest forms to get down.

Think about it.

You’ve only got about 80 characters to convert a complete stranger by nosediving into their inbox and getting them onto a call.

That’s hard.

Not to mention the fact that most folks outsource this skill to Claude and send choppy, em-dash-riddled nonsense to these poor prospects!

But my agency is sending 600k–700k emails a month, here's a swipe file and guide for you to get started today:

Subject lines:

  • Start with a short, relevant subject; three words is a useful constraint, use company name and first name:
    • bid walks
    • client intros
    • engineers for
    • cost per hire
    • pipeline
    • meetings for
    • outbound for
    • question for

Frameworks:

  • Offer/CTA
  • Offer/proof/cta
  • Proof/offer/cta
  • Enrich the data to have info from the website, make each email seem 1-1

Example #1: Offer > Proof > CTA

Subject line: 10k users in 90 days?

[Offer]
we can get 10,000 high-intent users who don't churn in the next 90 days, or you get a full refund.

[Proof]
We took [Client] from 2 installs a day to 50-80 daily and #1 in Family Apps, all in 90 days.

[CTA]
Open to a quick call to see if we can do the same for ?

[Your name]
Founder, [Your company]

Example #2: Proof > Offer > CTA

Subject line: pipeline for Simple F'N Marketing

[Proof]
, one of our b2b SaaS clients closed 3 customers off the first 8 leads we sent them, after two weeks of sending.

[Offer]
We book the qualified meetings for your team, you only pay per meeting that shows.

Could do the same for Simple F'N Marketing.

[CTA]
Would that be worth exploring?

Do you follow up with your leads? If not, you could be missing out on some serious deals. Heck, just the thought of following up with someone gave me the ick. I thought following up with leads would turn me into some kind of werewolf salesman… But I couldn’t have been more wrong! Here’s the skinny… If you’re like me, the idea of following up with a stranger tingles a deep subconscious fear. The fear of being annoying. Or worse! The fear of being rejected. But after analyzing our KPIs, we...

Trying to fix everything you suck at might be the reason your business is stuck. Somewhere out there is a person who loves doing the tasks that make your skin crawl. Finding that person has been the biggest unlock for me in 2026. And that’s coming from a guy with a bad neck tattoo. Let me explain... I’ve got a thick cranium. It’s covered in wrinkles, either because of the decade I spent working outside (or the daily electrocutions from my past line of work). And this caused me to have the...

Wanna hear something funny, wildly ironic, and so terrifying it almost made me go back to being an electrician? OK. Here it goes… It was 2022, and I decided to take the big leap of leaving my cushy, high-paying job running electrical construction. That’s a mouthful, I know, but stick with me here. Because I promise this story might sound like it’s only about me, but it’s actually all about you. Literally, the day I landed in Brazil to go all in as an online writer, the internet erupted… With...
