The cure for AI anxiety

Wanna hear something funny, wildly ironic, and so terrifying it almost made me go back to being an electrician?

OK.

Here it goes…

It was 2022, and I decided to take the big leap of leaving my cushy, high-paying job running electrical construction.

That’s a mouthful, I know, but stick with me here. Because I promise this story might sound like it’s only about me, but it’s actually all about you.

Literally, the day I landed in Brazil to go all in as an online writer, the internet erupted…

With the news of ChatGPT 3.5’s release…

And how it would decimate human labor, enslave us, and, of course, MAKE WRITERS OBSOLETE.

Fast-forward 4 years, and hey! What do you know? I’m still here and kicking butt.

But I’ll have to admit:

I still suffer from the anxiety of being replaced by AI. I still fear that the businesses I’ve worked so hard to build will vanish in the dust. And I’ll have to go back to plugging wires into the arse of AI at some desolate data center.

And every time I log into X, YouTube, or StinkedIn, the AI fearmongering is still running rampant.

But here’s the thought exercise that gets rid of AI anxiety once and for all!

#1 What are you afraid of AI taking from you?

For me, it was my business, my income, my safety net—losing something I’ve worked so hard to build.

Next…

#2 Is the fear actually about losing your business, or is the fear proof that you’re someone who can build something that’s valuable?

Aha! That second part is the magic, right?

#3 So what if the fear isn’t a warning, but just the tax you pay for being someone who builds things worth losing?

You see, if you’re like me, riddled with AI anxiety, then congrats! That’s a good thing. That means you’re a driven person who is afraid of losing something you’ve built.

Which also means that if you’re still in business, like I am 4 years later, then you are adaptable enough to win in the future.

Hope that helps you as much as it helped me.

Ciao,

Parker

Trying to fix everything you suck at might be the reason your business is stuck. Somewhere out there is a person who loves doing the tasks that make your skin crawl. Finding that person has been the biggest unlock for me in 2026. And that’s coming from a guy with a bad neck tattoo. Let me explain... I’ve got a thick cranium. It’s covered in wrinkles, either because of the decade I spent working outside (or the daily electrocutions from my past line of work). And this caused me to have the...

Your next client could be telling you is sending signals for your services. Without ever asking you for help. Meanwhile, you’re burning an arseload of time trying to convince the wrong people they need your offer. This is why the difference between demand generation and demand capture is so important. And to explain it, we need a mountain and a big honking rock… Picture yourself looking at a mountain. And in front of you is a massive boulder. To obtain your business goals, you have to get...

Email has been declared dead so many times it should have a loyalty card at the funeral home. Spam filters. Facebook Messenger. Apple messing with open rates. Yet here you are, reading another email. There’s a reason this stubborn bastard keeps surviving and it’s the reason I’m still betting on it: The Lindy Effect. This idea, popularized by one of my favorite authors, Nassim Taleb, is the reason why I’m bullish on email in the age of AI. If you haven’t read his books, ya need to....
