Wise lesson from the local liquor store gorilla

Last Friday I went to my local liquor store here in Brazil.

Usually I'm met by the owner, Rodrigo (who is a black belt in jiu jitsu and has arms the size of tree trunks), with open arms and a smile.

But this time was different.

As I entered the shop beaming with energy, ready to greet my local alcohol dealer, I felt like I made eye contact with a gorilla. Because Rodrigo barreled from the corner of the small store with knuckles on the ground and popped up right in front of me.

My butt cheeks clenched in fear.

Now before I tell you what happened next...

Let me explain an important lesson I've learned from 12 years of travel.

Playing stupid is one of the smartest things you can do. Because I understood every word Rodrigo said next, but pretended that I didn't understand a word, like a dumb gringo:

"Você me deve 77 reais," Rodrigo verbally pelted me while tightening his gorilla vice grip on my shoulder.

In English?

You owe me 77 reais (roughly $15).

Let me be clear…

The problem wasn't being able to pay Rodrigo. I could do that. The problem is that there's a gringo tax in most parts of the world. Meaning people will lie to you to try to make a quick buck…

I didn't think this was the case with Rodrigo.

But I needed to check my bank account to make sure what he was saying was legit, and he wasn't trying to take advantage of me.

After an awkward game of playing dumb and charades with beefed-up Rodrigo pointing to the credit card machine, the calendar, and yelling at me... Rodrigo wrote me a note and told me to show my girlfriend (who is Brazilian and obviously fluent in Portuguese)…

As I awkwardly shimmied my way out of the small store.

I had an adrenaline spike the entire walk home. I thought Rodrigo was going to tear me in half.

Because after checking my card statements and chatting with my GF, it turns out my card was never charged for last week's shenanigans.

So with my tail between my legs I walked back to Rodrigo's shop, apologized (I'm sure he noticed how my Portuguese suddenly got 1000x better), and corrected the debt…

And of course bought more alcohol (great upsell tactic on his part haha).

Anyway…

The reason I'm telling you this is because I want you to avoid paying the gringo tax for your online business.

The tax is spending thousands of dollars testing offers, acquiring traffic, or spending months building products no one buys.

The smartest entrepreneurs avoid this tax by playing dumb haha.

That's why I'm opening up my affiliate program.

Instead of trying to figure everything out on your own (and paying the "gringo tax"), you can partner with me.

You get to promote products that are already proven to convert, and you get to keep a hefty chunk of the profits without having a gorilla squeeze you for money...

I'm offering a top-notch commission percentage...

Last night was the deadline to join Future Products, and it won't be opened for quite some time. That's the reason I'm sending you this email. I'm not upset you didn't buy, maybe you just don't like people with neck tattoos. And that's ok. A lot of people replied to me this morning that they wanted to join, but just didn't have the budget. The biggest problem business owners and entrepreneurs are making is not understanding market sophistication. And I get it... Because as an entrepreneur myself with a neck tattoo, I'm not very sophisticated. Jokes aside... The reason you're not getting as many sales or clients as you'd like is because you don't know the tiers of your market's sophistication. But what is market sophistication? Market sophistication is how much exposure your target audience has already had to products like...
